Vocal Health – Looking After Your Singing Voice

Writer's picture: Geoff DayGeoff Day

Talking too much and shouting are probably two of the most common things that damage your voice. If you sing with correct technique then your voice should stay strong. Resting your voice is very important, don’t sing too much and don’t sing too high to often.

If you do damage your voice I wouldn’t recommend an operation. I have seen two people have the operation and it has ruined their singing voice. Take a couple of months off singing and don’t talk too much. Gargle salt water and lots of yawning.

I have seen people with damaged vocal chords lead very productive singing carers. With rest and correct singing technique they have sung better than ever.
