5 is the new 10. When to start your children’s music lessons

Writer's picture: Geoff DayGeoff Day

What age do we start teaching our children music? 20 years ago when I started teaching, kids started at 12 or 13. Every 5 years there is a noticeable lowering of the age. Now around 5 is the accepted age.

5 to 7 years;  Ukulele, singing, drums or piano

7 to 9; Guitar and violin

Remember a lot of  kids give up sport quite early in life but people play music for the better part of their lives.

For more information regarding guitar lessons, piano lessons, drum lessons, ukulele lessons, singing lessons and violin lessons please contact The Rock Academy to book a trial lesson or for more information.
