OUR MUSIC TEACHERS

Our music teachers are young dynamic musicians who are studying music or have studied music in the past. They are passionate about teaching and are nice, personable and relate to their pupils on a personal and professional level.

The level of muscial expertease the teachers bring to our music school is quite amazing. Many of our music teachers play multiple instruments and have a maturity with their playing that is unique to their generation.

CONCERTS AND STUDENT RECORDING

We run performer's concerts and band concerts at the Fringe Bar in Wellington. The pupils can play solo, with a friend, their tutor or as a band. It's an event the whole family can enjoy. We also love to record our pupils and we record at our band room and our studio based in Kilbirnie. Pupils can record with live instruments or use backing tracks.

Loose Heads formed in 2017 and began being mentored by The Rock Academy band school. They write their own songs and have recorded at a number of studios in Wellington. They have gigged at many locations including Newtown Festival and they reached the finals of Smoke-Free Rock Quest in 2021. They continue to be mentored by Jackson at our band school and we are proud to see them doing so well.

MUSIC INSTRUMENT HIRE

During the trial period of your music lessons, you may wish to hire an instrument. We hire keyboards, guitars and ukuleles for hire at just $12.50 per week.

MUSIC BOOKS

If you are a beginner or intermediate musician then our books will be perfect for you. Our books are filled with melodies, songs and exercises that are fun and super easy to play. The melodies we teach are very popular, Star Wars, Seven Nation Army and Harry Potter etc. These melodies are very easy (and a little challenging) so that our pupils are playing and having fun from the first lesson.

The songs that we teach are very popular and modern (from the 70's to the present day). We gently encourage our pupils to sing (optional) and the songs have the chords neatly above the words which make it easy to see where to change chords.

The exercises we use for all instruments, drums and vocals are essential to learning correctly and they speed up the learning curve exponentially. We also use metronome exercises so our pupils play with perfect time.
